Emily Firman, MPH, LICSW

Senior Program Officer

Emily is the lead strategist on the Arcora Foundation’s efforts to address cavities upstream – before they require treatment – by improving understanding and distribution of the benefits of fluoride. She is a nationally recognized collaborator on efforts to implement and maintain community water fluoridation and serves in that capacity on the Leadership Advisory Council of the Campaign for Dental Health, a program of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Emily has spent her career working with Foundations, non-profits, and government agencies concerned with the public’s health, and in particular oral health. This work includes running political campaigns, individual case management, managing programs, and engaging with community advocates and organizational leadership to produce quality localized decisions on high-risk, high reward actions.

Emily holds a BA from Pomona College, and a Masters in Public Health and a Masters in Social Work both from the University of Washington. Past employers include the Tacoma-Pierce County Department of Public Health, Harborview Medical Center - Madison Clinic, and the Center for Oral Health in California.  Emily is excited to explore ideas in science communications, social entrepreneurship, and life-hacking.

Emily began working with the Arcora Foundation in 2012.
